Frequently Asked Questions

Reaching out for help can be nerve-wracking and I'm here to make the process as comfortable as possible. Below are some questions frequently asked by first time clients. If you don't see something listed, feel free to contact me for additional information!

What is your specialty?

I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, people-pleasing, relationship issues, and help setting boundaries.

Do you accept insurance?

No, I am not paneled with any insurance companies.

Benefits of not using insurance:

  • You control your care, including choosing your therapist, length of treatment, etc.

  • Increased privacy and confidentiality (there are limits on confidentiality)

  • Not having a mental health disorder diagnosis on your medical record.

  • Consulting on non-psychiatric issues vital to you, such as coping with life changes, gaining more effective communication techniques for your relationships, increasing personal insight, etc.

What is your rate?

My rate is $110/ session.

A limited number of sliding scale appointments are available to those with qualifying financial need.

What type of therapy do you specialize in?

The interventions I use will depend on individual treatment needs. I tend to take an eclectic approach to therapy often using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Person-Centered, Attachment-Based, & Compassion Focused approaches, among others.

How long are sessions?

Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. This gives us enough time to slow down, focus on what you're experiencing, and make meaningful progress while still leaving space to wrap up and identify anything you want to carry with you between sessions.

What are your hours?

I offer appointments primarily during weekday hours, with availability varying based on my current schedule. Please reach out through the Contact page to inquire about current availability and scheduling.

What is your cancellation policy?

Appointments must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. All late cancellations (cancelled less than 24 hours in advance) will be charged $40. No shows will be charged $75.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

Yes. I offer in-person individual therapy sessions at my office in Huntsville, Alabama. My office provides a comfortable, private space where you can feel supported and at ease during our work together.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. While I prefer meeting with clients in person, I also offer virtual individual therapy sessions when meeting in person isn't possible (which happens sometimes). Virtual sessions provide a convenient and secure way to continue receiving support from the comfort of your own space.

Do you see couples or groups?

No. I currently provide individual therapy for adults age 18 and older. While I don't offer couples or group therapy, individual counseling can be a helpful space to work through relationship challenges, communication, boundaries, and patterns in your relationships.
