Individual Psychotherapy in Huntsville, AL for Adults Seeking Assistance with People-pleasing in Alabama

Individual Counseling

So what exactly is counseling? Counseling is a word often used synonymously with therapy, psychotherapy, or talk therapy. In individual counseling, a therapist meets one-on-one with a client in order to form a professional relationship. A professional relationship is formed by the therapist working to get to know the client and building a safe, positive relationship with the client. Within this relationship, therapists work to understand and help clients gain personal insights into their moods, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. Therapists help clients to grow in healthy coping skills, assist clients in developing strategies to deal with real-life solutions, and empower clients to meet their personal goals.

Specialties

I work with clients ages 18 & up. I offer counseling in Huntsville, AL in the areas of anxiety, depression, people pleasing, boundaries, and self-esteem.

Anxiety: Intense, excessive, persistent worry and fear about everyday situations. Fast heart rate, rapid breathing, sweating, and tiredness may occur.

Depression: Feelings of sadness, tearfulness, emptiness, or hopelessness. Angry outbursts, irritability, or frustration, even over small matters. Loss of interest or pleasure in most or all normal activities. Lack of energy.

People pleasing: A pattern of prioritizing the needs and wants of others at above one’s own needs. This can lead to burnout, resentment, low self-esteem, and difficulty setting healthy boundaries.

Boundaries: Difficulty setting and maintaining healthy boundaries either for yourself or others in relationships. This can lead to toxic relationships and well-being can suffer.

Self-esteem: Low self-esteem is a lack of belief in one’s capabilities and values and negatively affects a person’s perception of themselves. Individuals with low self-esteem often lack confidence in their abilities and worth, often feel inadequate, incompetent, and tend to have a negative internal dialogue.

I hold a certificate of completion in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders from Postpartum Support International

Forming a therapeutic alliance is crucial to the success of therapy. This alliance can only be formed between therapist and client if the client feels safe to openly share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment.

I work to create a safe space and supportive environment where clients experience trust and therapeutic rapport so that they can be vulnerable and know they will be met with empathy and understanding.

 Safe Space.
